Dennis Murphy, Founder, Better in a Day
Dennis Murphy is the founder and principal owner of Better in a Day Communications and Executive Training where he has, for several years, provided communications support, executive coaching and crisis communications guidance to a number of clients in the Atlanta and Charlotte area. Most recently, Dennis served as the VP and Chief Communications Officer for CSM Bakery Solutions, a global provider of bakery products and finished goods and led all internal and external communications and media and investor relations. Dennis has spent a major portion of his career in the global energy business. He was the Vice President of Communications for Babcock & Wilcox’s Generation mPower, Inc. and was responsible for all communications, public relations, and marketing related to the mPower reactor design. Before joining the mPower, Dennis served as Vice President of Marketing for the Electric Power Research Institute where he grew funding more than 25% over five years and significantly raised the organization’s visibility in the national and trade media. Prior to his time at EPRI, Dennis held the role of Vice President of Internal Communications for the Home Depot in Atlanta and spent most of his career with General Electric (GE) Energy where, for 17 years, he progressed through a number of steadily expanding commercial and communications positions. Formerly a communications professor (Marietta College, Ohio), he has won numerous national and international awards for commercial and communications excellence. Dennis is a graduate of Marietta College (Marietta, Ohio), studied for a Master of Arts in Communications from Ohio University (Athens, Ohio) and holds a Master of Science in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy (Mobile, Alabama). |
